Real world mpg

Forgot to say had frelander 150hp with 4wd and stop start for a week last year and got 37mpg. Would expect Evoque sd4/td4 to match that or better a bit - but not in winter and not brand new

hmmmm, fair point, i stand corrected on that they do seem to advertise it that way , very odd, as the real world figures are not better for a Auto, in my experiences anyway, and that includes DSG boxes not to mention that the Efficient Dynamics models which offer super mpg do not even come in a Auto only manual (until the new 3 series anyway) !.

Reduced Resistance Tyres RRE (Seems Yes on some models)
Low Friction Fluids RRE (probably altnough not seem any thing specific)
Active Aero RRE No

If you're spending your time on the motorway a lot it'll make some difference providing electric charge and active air intake, if your speding your time at slower speeds and/or off road then not a great deal of difference.

I am getting 35mpg on mine with a mixture of 50mph on A roads and 25/30 city driving and I think I can hit the 40mpg out on the motorway. My car has done only 450 mile so far in the 2 week I've had it so may be this could improve.

Thats refreshing news !, hopefully it will loosen up a but and you could see 45 on a good day. Certainly my current Audi gained about 10% increase in mpg as it got to about 5k+ miles

Likewise! If I could nudge the low 40s I'd be happy - the bulk of my road driving is constant speed motorway stuff for around 20,000 a year.

My Audi A5 (2.0 TDI Cabrio) was very similar to yours then - and the real world average is now 42-43 (though the DIS claims 48-51!).

Interesting info, thanks, when you say Reduced Resistance tires, do you know which models have this ?

Pedalpower - I remember there have been some VW/Audi cars with the DSG that give slightly lower CO2 than the manual equivalents - the initial couple of launch cars were advertised as autos more efficient than manual. I fully accept that some cars are advertised as no worse mpg as auto than manual but some are the other way round - come to think of it, 3.0 petrol Subaru legacy had significantly better official figures as auto than as manual, something like 22mpg v 29mpg! Don;t know if that is reflected in reality though

On a side note, I recently got some quotes for contract hire on 320ed - liked that you can get auto with the ed but discovered that you are unable to specify a towbar for 320ed (can for 520ed) which seems really stupid

I see that some of the 19" wheels shod with Pirelli tyres have low rolling resistance 'Eco tyres', I haven't followed the 20" tyre threads though.

SD4 Diesel manual.

Filled up yesterday with 49 litres after doing 355 miles since last refuel. Most of the mileage followed the same daily pattern of town driving for 5 miles @ 30/40mph, then dual carriageway for 7 or 8 miles @ 60/70mph, then town for a couple of miles @ sub 30mph. Then a return journey at the end of the day.

Getting out the calculator this seems in the region of just under 33mpg, which is disappointing considering I have the manual with start/stop and purposefully changed up the gears early. Anyway, not getting stressed about it and just accepting it for what it is - but would like to know why the official figures are so far out from reality.

Forgot to add that mine has 18s on Pirelli scorpion "eco" tyres....
