RE: Real world mpg

Look on your DVLA doc it shows weight, mine is 1850kg so 180kg is the penalty for Panoramic roof and Electric tail gate, dynamic kit etc.

The gross weight is the maximum permissible weight of the vehicle and all passengers/load/fuels/fluid this is 2350 kg

The vehicle weighs from 1640kg (maybe more depending on spec/options but not 700kg more1)

See the manual. page 197 to be precise.

td4 Pure manual in orkney grey, auto wipers/lights, front fogs, spare wheel. carmats4u mats, travall dog guard. Collected 30/03/12.

I come back to an earlier thread on a skoda yeti (yes laugh) they will not let you spec a sun roof and a spare wheel as factory fit options together as combined weight will alter manufacturers figures to such a degree it effects the advertised consumption etc. The biggest bug bear I see is people feel they are being misled, not just with LR but all companies cars. Probably why things like sun roofs and spare wheels are not standard as if they were one may go for the oppositions car as they are more fuel efficient. So the manufacturer needs to be more specific when quoting mpg figures as you cannot expect to reach the manufactures mpg if you have a car loaded with extras such as spare wheels sunroofs full tank of fuel, weight of driver etc. We all know a 4x4 is not the most fuel efficient car so hey we not all going foe efficiency so hence this not the real issue , the issue is nobody wants to be taken the pxss out off so why dont LR just put realistic figures down and we'd all be happy We'd all still buy one one and enjoy without the feeling of being duped and this part of the forum would not exist. Simples. Even state the mpg is lower and we d all be writing wow Im getting more than quoted.

Nah was at work, sat in front of a computer, nothing to do, unable to leave the office. Proving people wrong is a good way to spend some time!

Real world mpg

In my SD4 auto with AD I have today confirmed a previous post that dynamic mode improves efficiency, at 75mph i got 34mpg in standard mode and 38.5mpg in dynamic mode. Might pay for itself as well as being a better ride.

Orkney Grey 5 Door Prestige Lux + AD + Black Roof Lining + Heated Steering Wheel
Arrived 27/03/12
Very Happy

RE: Real world mpg

Had a lovely drive up to Glencoe and Loch Etive today, busy roads but free flowing traffic until I got back to the south end of Loch Lomond when we were down to a 20mph crawl for 6 miles but it wasn't stop/start so the day's run average at up to legal speed limit was almost 200 miles at 41.3mpg, average speed was 48mph but that was brought down by the slow traffic in the last 6 miles. I'm driving to the NE of England next week and have a conundrum - take the M74/A69 and travel 40 miles more but at 70mph or take the A1 and end up with miles and miles of speed cam controlled 50mph limit..................... speed and quicker journey over a longer distance or better economy over slower roads?

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.
