RE: Putting some numbers on things

OK, lets update the figures based on 30,000 pre-orders and production of just 200 units/day

So 4500 pre-orders for the UK (30000 x 15%)
15% of 200 = 30 cars / day for the UK = 180 / week
13 weeks production=2340 UK cars less 450 for the dealers = 1890 for customers
Pre-Order + Sept est = 5233
Shortfall = 5233-1890 = 3343 cars or 18.5 weeks (a little over 4 months)

RE: Putting some numbers on things

mywillia,

been doing a little research myself - gotta love the US, all their new car adverts specify the VIN…. so armed with a couple of VIN's and Topix I can report the following build dates (note I X'd out part of the VIN since the crucial bit is actually the last 6 digits - which you will see seem to be sequential starting with 6)

SALVXXXXXXX600026 - 8 Jul (so this would be one of the very first cars - my guess is that they started at 600000)

SALVXXXXXXX602182 - 8 Aug i.e. in the first month they did ±2,200 cars. That's less than 100/day but suppose that's the ramping up bit

SALVXXXXXXX603701 - 15 Aug - not really enough numbers to say for sure but they went from 2,182 on the 8th to 3,701 on the 15th so roughly 1,500 cars in that week?

SALVXXXXXXX606393 - 30 Aug by the 30th they were up to 6,393 or thereabouts so another 2,700 odd cars since the 15th which averages out to 1,350 for those two weeks

The latest build I could find was this one (SALVXXXXXXX614814) which had a 30 Sept build date by which time they were up to 14,814 i.e. ±8,400 cars since the 30th of August so they produced 280/day (evoquemaker previously posted they are working 2 shifts 7 days a week)

So the point is that by end Sept there was about 15,000 produced and they were averaging 280/day at that rate they would be at just over 20,000 cars by now and if 15% was allocated to UK that would put you at about 2,200 cars short which would be slightly less than 2 months backlog at 280/day

Current: SD4 Dynamic Auto, 5 Door, Orkney Grey with Black Contrast Pano roof and 20" Shadow Chrome wheels. Pursuit interior. [countdown="Hand over"]15th June 2013 2:00pm[/countdown]

Gone: Si4 Prestige Auto Coupe, Orkney Grey with Panoramic Roof, Element interior, Shadow Chrome 20" wheels with most of the bits & pieces loaded. [countdown="Hand over"]29th November 2011 2:00pm[/countdown]

RE: Putting some numbers on things

Wow, I'd never even thought of using vin numbers to gauge production volumes

Anyone else care to share the last 6 digits of there vin and evoques D.O.B

We can then maybe see just how many have been produced so far

619600 rolled off tonight
were producing 600/650 a day but the mix freelander/evoque is a bit up in the air since the fire.
Should be back with 3 evoques to 1 freelander next week
6 hrs production tomorrow
6:30am to 1am most of next week.
the line speed is 1 every 70 seconds

Trackmonkey, they are great stats! Please can you tell me which colour in your opinion looks best on the Evoque. Have you seen Mauritius Blue yet? What do you think? I still can't decide!! Cheers!

Trackmonkey - thanks for the information.
But more importantly, thank you VERY much for all your hard work. The whining and impatience on the board is just frustration from a group of owners to be. We are very excited about the Evoque and I can't wait too see them in the hands of discerning folk all over the world.
Congrats! Thumbs Up

RE: Putting some numbers on things

So it sounds as if they are up to 19600 in 3.5 months, maybe 80000 in a full year, £2.5bn at typical factory gate prices. Good news but doesn't explain why some cars are being delayed so much unless the original build plans werepie in the sky.

Evoque was great, now in an RRS SVR

I cannot beliieve, that there are so many Evoques per houer. Is it sure that the VINs are following numbers? Think about if they use 2 ore 5 steps counting?

PURE 5dr SD4 Auto, Fuji - Almond/Espresso, rear cam, front-pdc, techp., navi, seatheating, xenon package without xenon

Toyota in Australia used to make about 550 Camrys per day, mainly for the domestic market. These are not remarkably big numbers really.

Thanks for the information. Based on the Last Vin number of 19600 it looks like production actually dropped to an average of 228 / day assuming a 7 day week. I read in one of the TATA documents that production capacity at Halewood is between 130k and 150k units. Is that figure just for Evoque capacity or is that combined. Also the shifts are 6:30am to 1am = 18.5hrs total. What's the downtime for shift changes / breaks and two or three shifts?
The numbers still point to a backlog of production but the more accurate they get the better we can understand just how far behind and if thinks are getting back to normal, how quickly the backlog will be cleared when running at or near capacity.

Thanks
Mark
