Product recommendations

Lots and lots of info on this section but I was wondering what products would users recommend as essential kit?

Really depends on what you're trying to achieve and what level of protection you're looking for (which translates in to roughly what do you want to spend)?

I suppose around £100 or so

Autoglym are perfectly decent products and are often on 3 for 2.

If you're spending £100 I'd recommend you go for Gtechniq which are professional grade products with outstanding longevity and protection.

You'll probably need the following:

G-Wash shampoo
W2 - All purpose cleaner - excellent for interior, engine bay, tyres you name it.
T1 Tyre dressing
C1.5 Protective coating - can be used on paint, trim and wheels - 2 coats of this does the same job of adding gloss like a wax but with much better protection and beading which makes cleaning easier.
G1 Glass coating

If you need to do any polishing then their P1 polish is excellent too.

You'll probably also want a good quality large micro fiber drying towel (about £6 on ebay) and a sheepskin wash mitt (about £9-10).

If you do go for them I'd suggest buying a 500ml W2 as its cheap and you'll probably use loads of it!

100ml of C1.5 is plenty to do a car at least twice and the 250ml T1 and G-wash will last a good while.

watching the videos and the Grechniq products do look excellent.
can they be purchased via the website? it all appears to be in a foreign language

anyone recommend anything to clear the alloys with please?

I've been told by two different sources that Poorboys Wheel Sealant is very good. Not used it myself as I'm still getting my head around the dealing world!

Wolf's Nano wheel cleaner gets my vote for cleaning alloys.

For a wax or sealant.
Once again Gtechinq wins hands down.
C5 Wheel Armour, if applied correctly will last for 6-9 months. It's so good that stick on wheel weights wont hold on! If you treat the inside face & have to your wheels balanced.
Just spray with water & almost all the break dust will fly off, finish with a non acid mild wheel cleaner.

Or Rim Wax. but it won't last long, few weeks.
