That one line " all press cars on 19", all you need to know.." is quite a loaded statement methinks

There's definitely a theme emerging... especially as a number of the photos show what appear to be UK spec Dynamics "downgraded" to 19" wheels.

It's a shame as I'm very keen on the styling of the 20" wheels but as I've lived with a BMW that has terrible ride due to low profile tyres I don't want a repeat of that experience.... I think it's going to have to be 19's for me.

I'm dreading this - I really like the look of the 20" style 6/7 wheels. But there's just so much evidence going around that 19" is the way to go...

Current: SD4 Dynamic Auto, 5 Door, Orkney Grey with Black Contrast Pano roof and 20" Shadow Chrome wheels. Pursuit interior. [countdown="Hand over"]15th June 2013 2:00pm[/countdown]

Gone: Si4 Prestige Auto Coupe, Orkney Grey with Panoramic Roof, Element interior, Shadow Chrome 20" wheels with most of the bits & pieces loaded. [countdown="Hand over"]29th November 2011 2:00pm[/countdown]

I am a fan of the 20" inchers but I have noted that all the press cars have 19" inch wheels. Also a few testers have said that the steering can be overly light. Now this is only my theory but with magneride it is possible to make the suspension stiffer which in turn as I understand it stiffens the steering, now with 20" wheels this would make the suspension to stiff. I hope this makes sense I am sure if my theory is wrong people will put me right. The other thing is some export countries land rover will not even supply the larger wheels.

I think we need to remember that the 20" wheels don't, actually, have particularly low profile tyres at all.

I would think that 19" would offer a slightly better ride, but I would hope the difference will be fairly minimal.

I'm not surprised that LR are playing it safe with 19" wheels for the test drives - why wouldn't they?

Personally I'm not going to let this put me off the 20".

Same here, always fell for "form over function" and I like the form of those 20"s

Let's face it, every single one of us bought a car basically from what we've seen on a few photo's (most of have paid our deposits months before pretty much any details was known) I suppose fretting over 19" vs 20" wheels is really sweating the small stuff.

It's unlikely that any of us would be driving for extended periods under 'road' and 'off-road' test conditions, so I imagine there won't be a massive difference to note. The guys with the 20" wheels might look slightly cooler, the guys with the 19" wheels might have a slightly better ride; all of them will be driving a great car!Very Happy

RE: Press Drive Day Article

Hopefully this weekend we'll get some forum members opinions of 20" vs 19". Mind you I was told the 19" wheeled cars won't have AD whilst the 20" ones will. Ideally I would have liked a comparison between 19" and 20" wheels on cars that both had AD. The 20" style 6 wheels are the only ones that I really like but I do not want a rock hard ride .... I've had enough of park bench "sports" suspension to last me a lifetime. Trouble is my lock down day is this Friday - which I think is madness. .....Trying to get it pushed back.

SD4 Prestige Sport Auto 5 Door, Sumatra Black with Ambience interior, Magneride AD, 20" Style 6 Wheels, Panoramic Roof, Surround Cameras, Electric Tailgate, ADRVM.......& Heated Steering Wheel......Gorgeous

Taken from What Car. when they drive a 3 door diesel.

Just like the five-door, the ride is firm but not uncomfortable. That said, it was firm enough for us to question the need to have anything bigger than the 19-inch alloys our test car had fitted.

I'm sticking with my 20". After driving my Disco which rides on air. any size wheels will seen worse.

Well said. It also comes down to what sort of ride your used to if you currently have a sports car with firm suspension 20" will be fine but if your used to a softer ride 20" probably won't feel right for you. I'm sticking with the 20" style 7 can't wait!!Very Happy
