Porous wheels

We have had our 2016 Dynamic Hse since may and have been suffering with some tyres going down since we got it, we have now found that on 1 wheel that there is holes going through the centre of the wheel due to corrosion, I intended on taking it to LR under warranty but I noticed on the back of the wheel it’s dated 2012, when we bought the car (from a known independent 4x4 dealer) they agreed to have the wheels refurbished but when we went to collect the car they admitted that they had swapped them off of a different car as they didn’t have time to get them done and had waited for us to sign the logbook and tax the car before it was bought out.
I wasn’t very happy but they looked in good condition and the misses was to excited to leave it there.
Since finding the problem and contacting them I have been promised they will “sort something out” and they will get someone to call back and they never do, I have been calling every day only to be fobbed off with the usual he’s on holiday then the next person is on a day off on the the next day, this has been going on for 5 days until today when I lost my Sh1t,
After getting fobbed off again with the usual different guys off but I will get someone else to call bs I didn’t wait for a call I sent an Email via there webpage telling them I was having the car dropped off with 3 wheels right in the middle of there entrance with a big sign explaining to everyone interested what’s been going on, funnily enough it got an immediate response by phone and email at pretty much the same time from the same person now this guy seems to have a can do attitude and is going to speak to a director to make an appointment for us to take the car in so they can fit a loaner set of wheels whilst they sort us a set out and test them to make sure they have no problems.
Now I have some concerns with this and wanted to get some opinions on them,
If they have been fobbing me off this far then once I have loaner wheels what’s stopping them saying that they have rectified the situation by providing other wheels,
Also I have good matching Pirelli tyres and will they go missing during however long it takes to sort it out especially since the mats and parcel shelf went missing between buying and collecting the car,
I also don’t like the idea of blowing up the tyre and driving it 30 odd miles to them with holes in a wheel, I realise it’s unlikely anything would happen but if it did I’m knowingly driving a defective vehicle and at best I can’t see my insurance company being to impressed.

I had issues with wheels, i brought a full fat range rover a few years back and it had fake wheels on. Long story short, they replaced with a second hand set of standard wheels which i didn't like, but as they were factory and genuine, citizens advice told me that there was no further i could go, so just had to live with it.

Ok I can see how it could be said that them taking fake wheels off and replaced with genuine that it could be said they have done the right thing although not to your taste and I wouldn’t have been impressed with that either.
In my case they have taken the same pattern genuine set of wheels but from a 4 year older car and put on our car after it was paid for in full and is also still under the manufacturers warranty which is now void in respect of the wheels so they should at least liable as it’s unfit for purpose and luckily less than 3 months from purchase, I will see what tomorrow brings.
Did you end up replacing the wheels on yours in the end or get rid of the car?

as You bought from non-LR dealership I think you have to do battle with them as rightly Land Rover will want nothing to do with it. Someone outside of the dealer network has switched the wheels for a cleaner but older set, doesn’t make the car unfit for purpose unless you can prove they are not genuine LR wheels. To supply a used car with much older wheels I would say is sharp practise by the seller but it nothing to do with JLR, even though they are LR wheels you will be told by LR that they cannot know the history of a 6 year old wheel and what cleaning agent, refurbishing etc they have had. I’m sorry but you will have to fight it out with the seller if the car or buy a new set yourself.

Did you end up replacing the wheels on yours in the end or get rid of the car?

I sold the car in the end and now have the evoque. In my case i brought an autobiography range rover with the ultimate kit on it, was told all was genuine parts etc.

Took it to my local specialist who found them to be fake, so after a battle, they changed for standard autobiography wheels, not that i hated them but they just weren't the wheels that sold it for me.

Ive had trouble with after market wheels before so I now check as best i can.

I try to learn from my mistakes but there are so many i forget witch ones.

I am currently fighting with them and have also bought another set of wheels in the meantime as this is dragging on and have been without the car for over a week now, it’s not the age that makes me feel it’s unfit for purpose it’s because they have holes in and don’t hold air contributed by the age and all the factors you mentioned.
If the wheels hadn’t of had this issue then I would of never of known the age of them and therefore I wouldn’t have been bothered as they looked good but having paid good money for a car that still has LR warranty only to find the 1 issue I have with it isn’t covered due to the dealers underhanded tactics I feel a little cheated especially as initially they talked us in to letting them refurb the wheels as we planned on taking it as was because the wheel colour was wrong anyway so a few scratches didn’t matter to us, it was only the fact the windscreen had to be done that swung the wheel deal.

The upside is I now have another set of the same genuine wheels (without holes) and have had them refurbed by our chosen company who were supposed to do the originals and they look amazing and I know the finish will last (kerbs aside) hopefully tyres will get swapped tomorrow and I will get the other wheels dropped back to the dealer .
