Offroad modifcations

Anyone done or thinking of offroad modifikations? Are there already underbodyprotection parts?

First problem is finding some decent tyres. After that I reckon on leaving it entirely standard, and driving very carefully

I took mine offroad naked/ no mods and it did as well as the Freelander 2's and better than the freelander1, and it was on 100% road biased tyres. It could do with a front bash plate but otherwise most parts are well protected. The front bash plate from the factory is the same lightweight job Freelander has and really it needs a good aluminium plate

Somwhere read a post that htere is a supplier for a 30mm lift with springs. Can anybody help?

It would be interesting to see how the lowering kit affects handling, maybe interested in this a little down the Line, as i was unable to get AD on TD4.

I had an "accident" with my Evoque the other day up in the mountains of Cyprus. I misjudged the height of a ledge while reversing and ended up landing the car right behind the front wheels. Absolutely no damage to the under body of the car except a few scratches. This is why I would buy a LR again and again! But having said that I will be investing in a good under body protection for my evoque. If anyone hears anything please share =)

zambiaman, you might be able to get a local body shop to make you something from aluminium plate but remember that you will need to make it easily removal for service time other wise your local friendly LR service outlet will charge you plenty of additional labour for taking it off and replacing it to change the oil and filters. There is a huge problem with under body skid plates for Freelanders and Evqoues if you go into deep snow or mud and have to be dragged out backwards................ they tend to act as a scoop and can fill up with compacted mud/ snow and can reduce engine cooling so you have to get under the car and clean them out before going anywhere after the recovery.
