New Car - No Clue!

Hi - having spent hours reading the manual and getting nowhere I thought I would ask a human being. Picked up our new white Evoke HSE (16 plate) yesterday but can't work out how to listen to the radio without the ignition on. On all
of my other cars there was a position on the ignition switch where you could not have the ignition on but could still listen to the radio and have other auxiliary systems working. Have tried randomly pressing the start button as suggested by the neighbour but this did no good except to annoy their cat.

I can't get the new car to do this and unless the engine is running the radio (infotainment?? system) shuts down after about 3 minutes.

Also another bloody stupid question......... I have bought a cycle rack thing that fits on the towbar. The tailgate is one of those sorts that goes up on its own if you wave something like your foot or a small child under the back of the car.

Can I turn this off because I can guarantee that I will forget and walk too close and the tailgate will open and impale itself on my bike. I have looked for an off switch but I can't find it anywhere.

Sorry to be so dim but the last new car I bought was 15 years ago and things seem to have moved on a bit since then.

I think I'll leave the Evoque on the drive and stick to the old Rav 4 till I have a few of these issues sorted out. Wink

For the radio press and hold the start button for a few seconds without your foot on the brake pedal. No idea on the tailgate.

Last 2013 SD4 Auto, Prestige, Pano, Firenze Red. Loving the USB shuffle.

RE: New Car - No Clue!

Have you had a look in the dashboard menus to see if there is a setting that will inhibit the motion sensor for the tailgate, sorry I cannot be any more help than that as my last Evoqque was a 2014MY car and didn't have such fancy gizmo's.......

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

If you've just bought it new, go and ask the dealer for advice.

RE: New Car - No Clue!

I have a new Evoque Dynamic HSE and you can just press the radio button to listen to it with no ignition on. It's on a timer though.
Regarding the gesture control I have no idea on disabling it. I had the problem of it automatically opening when jet washing the car the other day! May try leaving the keys in the car in future instead of in my pocket.
