My 2012 to 2017 Evoque Facelift Conversion

Hi,

Been working on this for a while now - a bit difficult out in Malawi, Africa. Sent the Evoque down to South Africa for Service and Paintwork (Due to a really bad Vinyl Wrap Removal that went wrong), so it was the right time for it to all be done. Only thing left are the Full LED Headlights which I have, being adapted by RD Custom in Italy. They should be ready next week, but for now, here are some photos of the build which included the new Vented Bonnet and Front Bumper...

The Registration on the car was changed as the Road Traffic Department issued all the 'B' registrations in error, so they were recalled, before anyone says its two different cars, hahaha!

Nice job, thanks for posting! Be good to see more.

Could you tell me how the A pillars either side of the windscreen clip on and off?

Here's some of the other goodies that are going on it:

Genuine Facelift 20" Satin Black Alloys
[Image: IMG_4376.JPG]

Black Pack Powder-Coated Exhaust Tips
[Image: IMG_4374.JPG]

Black Pack Facelift Tail Lights
[Image: IMG_4372.JPG]

Black Pack Facelift Fog Lights
[Image: IMG_4371.JPG]

Black Pack Facelift Front Grill
[Image: IMG_4377.JPG]

Will post Photos of my Full LED Facelift Headlights once they are back from adaptation in Italy... Smile

Some of them just Clip off using a Trim Pry Tool, others have those plastic clips with an Inner and Outer that need to be seperated with a Split-Tip Flat Screw Driver first before you pull them out. I changed ALL the Pillar Trims on the Car (They tend to show swirl marks very very easily) so some on the doors require a few screws to remove as well. In the photos of the car being washed after its first Polish session, the pillars are still wrapped in the White Vinyl they are supplied in. Trying to not get them scratched or swirled before i do the GTechniq thing... Smile

Very nice project - well done!

Can you tell me how much did you pay for adapting the MY16 lights to your model?

PS. The wrapping job must have been indeed terrible... what did they use super glue Evil

Hi,

I paid 420 Euro for the Adaptation of the MY16 Full LED Lights... They have to build a small Linbus module to control them...

...When they removed the wrap, it took the clear coat with it... Smile

Thanks yes I hit a branch with one of my front windscreen ones and thought it would be easier to run the polisher over and re-coat it off car.

Glad to see some-one has finally gone to the trouble of decoding the Lin bus, quite a nice project if only I had time to play with stuff like that and access to a new car.

How did the cost of doing all this compare with trading it in for a new car?

Not too sure - we don't have a Land Rover dealership in Malawi, and given that i was doing the work in South Africa it probably would be cheaper to trade-in in other countries. If i had traded in mine in South Africa i would have still had to pay 120% Import Duties on the new one when i get back to Malawi so wasn't really an option.

I will say that the Wheels are the most expensive part of this whole conversion - or at least in South Africa they were. It was about $1,000 a rim direct from Land Rover. Could have got replicas for about $800 for a set of 4, but given the African roads, i wouldn't take a chance on them. Otherwise the rest of the stuff wasnt too badly priced. Quite a lot of it i bought online from UK and had Air Freighted out to me, so you could probably say my Freight bill was a large contributing factor to this. But hey, if we all based our cars on being financially prudent we would all be on the BabyPrius site Laughing

The Rupes Bigfoot Nano iBrid polisher is brilliant for that - worth every cent!

Having just bought a new RRS Autobiography Dynamic SDV8 with £6k of extras, I can't argue with that sentiment! (Your car turned out brilliantly, by the way, undetectable from new anyway).
