I do have an auto - a Dynamic Si4 auto to be more precise.

Where is the USB port on the NAV ? I am trying to see if the NAV unit in a US spec'd car can somehow be mod'ed to accept USB drives as well, or is this a totally different NAV unit??

RE: Movies playing on a USB stick

I've only just caught up with this thread but I have been using a portable hard drive on my Si4 since I got it. It's a 320gb Western Digital and I'm using the Divx converter from the Divx homepage.

To be honest I'm not sure if the larger capacity offers any real benefit from my Sandisk 32gb USB stick, if I modify the files on the 320gb it takes ages to initialise and I spend most of my journey scrolling through file names.

I get 20+ movies and 1000's of tracks on the Sandisk and it connects almost instantly.

An added bonus is they are on offer in Argos at the moment at £25 ish. Tongue Out

2.0 Si4 Dynamic 5Dr Auto, Fuji White, Lux Pack, Dynamic Plus Pack, 20" Chrome Shadow Alloys, etc etc etc

The short answer is "yes" but the longer answer really depends on what type of PC you have. If you have a PC, there are dozens of apps that will make quick work of what you need to do to get the videos into a format that will play in your vehicle. I'm less familiar with the Mac side of things, but Handbrake comes to mind. On the PC side, I'd use Imtoo Ultimate Video Converter. It works. Its fast. It is simple as drag and drop.

RE: Movies playing on a USB stick

You might want to read through the existing threads, it has all been explained before.
It needs to be DivX or XVid encoded. AVI is merely a container format, it doesn't say anything about the encoding of the contents. AVI works but only if the video track is DivX / XVid encoded. DVD format is MPEG-2.

Prestige TD4 5d / Fuji White / Tech pack / Parallel park / Pano / Order 26/01/2011 / Build 13/12/11 / Arrival 04/01/2012
