RE: Most popular engine
I would suggest, if possible and if you believe it can be interesting, to add, for International Forum members, the choice for "TD4 Auto" since in many countries that's an allowed configuration

RE: Most popular engine
I drove many times a Freelander with the SD4, it's a good engine but too noisy and too "diesel spirit" for me, so I choose the SI4 !! By the way, if the 3.0 TDV6 was available, I maybe choosed this one...

RE: Most popular engine
Worth doing some simple arithmetic. lots of assumptions:
40,000 miles over 3 years, £40k, 70% depreciation SD4, 75% Si4
Si4: 25mpg @ £1.50/l average, £6.82/gallon
SD4: 40mpg @ 1.60/l average, £7.28/gallon
TCO Si4: £30000 + £10912 = £40912
TCO SD4: £28000 + £7280 = £35280
Based on those numbers, the SD4 is £5632 less to own and run, £36/week or, alternatively, that is the cost of the extra performance/refinement of the Si4.

RE: Most popular engine
Got the SD4 in my freelander at the moment but have went for TD4 in the evoque just based on cost, changing the freelander a bit earlier than I should so restricted on options.

RE: Most popular engine
We have gone with the Si4, haven't seen or driven an Evoque yet but have been following everyone's reviews. Heard the sound of a SD4 in a freelander 2 and didn't like the truck noise.
