LR don't account for 71% of breakdowns as thread title seems to imply, it's saying that 71% of LR's that are over 3 years old breakdown at least once a year.

Pure 3dr SD4 Tech Man ; Firenze Red ; 19" Style 3 ; Pano ; Ebony / Ivory Int ; Auto dim rear view ; 2 seats ; Park Aid - Rear cam ; Ext. folding mirrors ; Adap Xenon ; Fogs ; Mud Flaps ; Side Steps - Rec'd 28/12/11 - Sadly going 6/6/14 - Gone, now running BMW X6

RE: Land Rover least reliable car in the uk....71% of break downs

It all depends on how you look after it - follow the service schedule to the letter at a reputable service outlet and you LR shouldn't give you any problems, however as my youngest sister has just found with her RRS, if you try to get a non-specialist to service it on the cheap or miss services then it is almost guaranteed that you are in for trouble. Land Rovers are incredibly complex vehicles and you simply have to look after them properly. I've owned 9 Land and Range Rovers since 1996, only one "broke down" (an auxy drive belt broke depriving me of power steering and air-conditioning) at 3 years old, all the others have proved very reliable. However, all except my Defender have had niggly little things to be corrected at service time but nothing that has stopped the car running. I don't doubt that there are problem Land and Range Rovers out there but in my experience the cars I have owned have been more reliable than the one Audi and the one Volvo I have owned (my TVR was also more reliable than the Audi and the Volvo as unlike both of those it never left me stranded at the roadside waiting for the AA!) .

The article is also in this month's What Car? magazine - LR at the bottom of the league table for the 11th year in succession!

How many RRE owners on here have reported being left stranded on the side of the motorway? Very few seeing there are now something like 19,000 Evoques prowling the streets of the UK

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.
