Ah, that explains it. Like the way it sits, anyone planning to lower their cars like this. Or would that be sacrilege?

It would screw with the magneride.

I thought that shorter springs would just mean that the shockers had less travel, if so, then that would't affect the way that the magnaride operates - would probably kill the off road ability though.

It's not something I would do. Its just that I always like the look of a car where the wheels fill the arches. Many years ago I had a Celica GT4, this was based on the rally car and never looked right to me because there was too much of a gap between the top of the tyres and wheel arch. I had a set of shorter progressive rate springs put in, these lowered the car by around 2" and the difference was amazing. Looked so much better and even improved the handling.

Shorter springs are generally stiffer, thus the calibration of the damper would need to be adjusted to compensate; Magneride or no Magneride.

I don't think that's strictly true. Shorter springs from a reputable company (such as Eibach) will be tuned to suit a particular car make and model, they won't just be the same spring with a bit cut off. The damper is only there to control rebound rate and won't be affected by a shorter spring - well as long as the manufacturer has done their work correctly.

Not true. Dampers control both bump and rebound.

Up to a point maybe. My point is that you do not need to recalibrate dampers just because you fit shorter springs. I and I'm sure millions of other people can testify to this because we have done it.
