Its off to the bodyshop!

Well,
The Disco has turned into a FL4 SD4 HSE auto but I now have transport and my poor battered Evoque has gone off to Harwoods where they will assess the damage tomorrow. Admiral have already appointed Harwoods so I guess the argument will be over quantum.

No chance of having the car back before Christmas so next step is - - what is the cost?

I'll let you know the damage, literally, when I know.

Cheers
Griff

Arrived: SD4 Prestige Auto Coupe with Lux pack. Ipanema Sand with Black Panoramic Roof
Ambience Interior with Macassa wood.

Now a Jag XFR Kyanite Blue - wow what power.
At home and superb.

Is the FL4 the latest one being advertised on TV with the nice little analogue clock in the dash?

RE: Its off to the bodyshop!

Phone conversation with Harwoods this morning. Admiral have agreed strip down and initial costs which is great as the shop have started work on it within 24 hours of it arriving and initial estimate been given to insurers. The bad news is that the lady gave the steering/ suspension a right wallop and initial parts costs are nearly £3,000. And it only looked like it had a tap!

It will be the New Year before I get the Evoque back and I'm already missing the Ipod and heated seats. This looks like at least £4,000 to me.

More updates as I get them.

RE: Its off to the bodyshop!

I'm pleased to hear this Griff, especially about Admiral, A friend of mine who consults for Bodyshops said a lot of the bucket insurers now will only pay a fix staggering low fee for ANY car accident repair to the nominated Bodyshop, some they win, some they lose but it balances out and it avoids all negotiation/quotes, so a high end repair will be done really cheaply in this scenario as the bodyshop will be losing money!

Good they are just replacing all the steering/suspension etc, best way to avoid troubles further down the line.

Hope you get it back soon!

If the parts cost is £3000, I expect the total will be much more than £4000! Vital they get the wheel alignment right.

Evoque was great, now in an RRS SVR

+1 the labour usually far exceeds the parts!

That is why I insisted on utilising a main dealer. The one advantage seems to be that Admiral have this "Prestige" department which seems to cater for the more demanding types like me. When I started banging on about magneride and how the system was on cars like Ferrari's they were quite forthcoming in saying that if necessary they would send the car to a specialist garage. I was quite impressed.

RE: Its off to the bodyshop!

Well, it looks that it the car is almost ready. Had a phone call with the body shop yesterday and they are waiting for one part to come in today and then its off down to Harwoods Pulborough to reboot/ reinstall all the software and a final test.

I expect to get the car back on Monday or Thursday as I'm off working oop North Tuesday/Wednesday.

Having had the Freelander for some time now I realise what a blancmange it is and how jumpy the suspension is compared to magneride. I can't wait for the Evoque's return.

It seems the cost is working out at about £4,000 with the large part being the replacement steering rack but I don't have a full breakdown yet. I'll let you know what they replaced when I get a copy of the work done. Could be interested how far it went,

It will also be interesting to see that when the garage resets all the software whether I will get any updates. I'll keep an eye on that.

Roll on next week!
Cheers
Griff
