Is the cross bars easily removable when not in use?
So im getting a new Evoque that has roof rails and cross bars already installed. I was just wondering if the cross bars are easily removable when not in use. Never had cross bars before, thanks.

Very easy - the brackets slot into two holes within the rails so no adjustments are required in terms of positioning. They come with an Allen Key to remove/install them ( two Allen bolts each side although once fitted for the first time you would only need to loosen/tighten one thereafter) and a bag to put them into when not in use.
I have my roof basket fixed to the crossbars all the time too and they are a 2 min job to put on/take off.

I much prefer the look of the roof basket as a way of carrying stuff than the ubiquitous roof pods.

Evoque was great, now in an RRS SVR

Does this mean that your current Evoque is now a "lemon" or are you having two Evoques?

What was the recurring issue?

the issue is a purge valve that remains open. It releases the vapor in the fuel tank to be released at certain times. so it triggers an emissions code. This problem causes the engine to run lean which can cause the internals to heat up at higher temp and cause accelerated wear. There is another member that has this problem; he is in Florida.

Just a question regarding cargo roof boxes. i know the luggage cargo box LR offers is 1600mm. i was wondering if i may still able to a longer cargo box say around 2100mm? I know the cross bars are set at certain location but is their location good enough to for weight distrubution and wont cause stress if the weight shifts within the box at the ends?

Dunno about the 2100...I've attached some pics of mine from a holiday abroad recently so you can judge.
