HELP - Dealer pressure to pay for vehicle now when collecting in Jan 2012!

I should get my car this week sometime and I was debating whether to hold off registering it until January if possible so I asked my dealer if this was possible and they said ideally they would like it registered in December but if I insisted on waiting until January I could. As I have waited so long for the car and am so excited I have decided to take it now - probably a stupid move! Does anyone have an idea of how much difference it makes to the value?

Ultimately it will depend on future residuals, the model and how long you keep it. If they remain very strong as anticipated it shouldn't be a huge amount but it could easily be North of £500 I would guess.

Thanks, if it's hundreds I'm not too bothered but if it was thousand/s it would make me re-think!

I'd probably do the same too. Life is for living so enjoy your new motor, they really are great!

IMO a car registered in Dec is no different to one registered in Jan

I heard £100s rather than £1000s too. I'm not waiting either - my build came forward to this week and (hopefully) I'm collecting before 19th December.
If that's all I've got to worry about I'm doing OK...

Just done a quick comparrison on a RR Sport 3.0 HSE. Both with 20,000. One was a 2009 (59) Reg and the other a 2010 (59) Reg. The difference in dealer price was £900.00, although the RRE will likely hold its money somewhat better at least for the first couple of years or so.

The scrooge in me would be more miffed about loosing almost months road tax, so would wait till the new month.

I'll put my tin hat on now.
