Porsche was my second choice next to the Subaru Legacy. But my measure was how comfortable the seats are not form or function. Good luck Blacktrees!

I'm with you there on the SD4 getting bedded in then going like a train - mine is headed towards 4000 miles now, 8 weeks old tomorrow and just pulls stupidly hard from 2nd gear onwards now.

Fuel economy (much debated elsewhere is odd), after a consistent 37 to 41 mpg - a lot of 70mph miles mine has now decided 44 is its new magic number - Im not driving it any differently either.

I had an XC90 driver in the passenger seat recently who was very surprised that it was not a "large petrol engine" in the Evoque because of how quiet and smooth it was and how it pulled away.

I drove his XC90 a few days later and while I'm a big fan of the big volvo it felt and sounded positively agricultural in comparison!

WB, my brother has a 6 months old A5 Cab TDi - he is also amazed at the quietness and torque of the 2.2SD4 compared to his 2.0TDi

Blacktrees1, it is sad to see you leaving and selling your RRE but I am happy for you that you are in line for a new Chayenne which I beleive is the best SUV. If I had the funds I would have gone for the Chayenne myself. Hope you will enjoy your new ride.

Does his report 55mpg like my father-in-law's 2.0TDi A6 does?

He's never mentioned it, but as it is car number 3 in his garage I doubt he has managed to use the tankful it was delivered with. It's company in his garage is an Aston Martin Rapide and an Austin Healy ME3000, fuel consumption isn't high on his list of priorities!

Nice stable mates - I'm a big fan of the Rapide.

He will get 43mpg actual out of a 2.0 TDI A5 Cabrio...trip computer says a lot more
