Fitting the rechargeable torch - VPLVS0174 (lots of pics)

I got this accessory from Dan@Duckworthparts (thanks Dan)

What you need (apart from the obvious):
1. A Stanley knife
2. A powered drill
3. A Hex screw driver (I'm not sure which size - it's about 1.5 mm across)

For your safety, it is recommended to disconnect your car's battery first. But If you don't want to disconnect it, that's fine, you can still get the job done.

The instructions are quite easy to follow, but I'll just take you through what I've done.

Here goes... (the title will be placed above the corresponding photo)

1) Everything you need is in the box (I took out the cutting plan from the box already)



2) Remove the original panel, just pop it out



3) Cut out the plan with a precision knife - if you have a newer panel with the lines already marked behind the panel, skip the paper plan



4) Ready to work



5) The instruction says you have to drill through the marks in the four corners, but I find it easier to remove the center piece of the plan first



6) Here's the working area. Don't be tempted to place the cradle any higher, it will not fit any other way.



7) Just drill around the piece



8) Slowly work around the cut with your trusty knife



9) After two hours and a mishap, it's done



10) Not the best cut but it will do the job



11) The charging cradle attached



12) The cradle is secured by two hex screws



13) Wires connected strictly according to the instructions. Note the brown cubical relay(?) - the charger electronics will reside just underneath that thing.




14) Done!!



15) Nice beefy torch with 4 different modes - Low, Mid, High, SOS (it will flash the SOS Morse code ...---...)

Nice torch too but shame about the price.

Very nice but LR are taking the p***. You spend that much on a torch and they don't bother giving you a replacement panel with the charger already built in!!! That is beyond outrageous!

And I can't say I will use it very often... LOL

Nice job, shame so expensive and cutting involved, Where are the wires connected they seem to go up behind that panel? I assume the lead with the green connector comes with the torch?

Thanks. Yes it is expensive and the cutting is pain in the you know what, to be honest. Maybe these things are not for me, I'm not a handyman . I urge anyone who would try fitting it yourself to go slowly then you'll be good.

The green connector leads to the 12V supplier and the pink one just coils around a metal tube for grounding.

This reminds me that the Evoque is the first car I've owned that didn't have a torch, warning triangle and first aid kit as standard from the factory... do the FFRRs and RRS's miss these essentials too?
