You use a toothpick and the inside of the letters peels away fairly easily. I have done my side mirror covers, side vents and rear lettering...more to be done soon. I am using black with silver metalizer and glossifier to give it a little gloss.

Hi there Marcpitch,

Getting my Evoque in a few weeks and will definitley be looking to do the mirror covers and the lettering.

How was it to plastidip the mirror covers? Did you remove them at all or just mask off the surrounding area and doors etc? How has the plastidip they held up on them and the lettering?

Many thanks

Sewy

I am sorry for the long delay. I have not been monitoring this board as often as before. I removed the mirror covers.. They come off and go on pretty easily. So far the dip is holding up well. I have just done my front lettering and the silver part of the plastic moldings under the doors...all in black. I have thought about doing the whole care, but probably will not go that far....if I did, I would have a pro do it. Hope this helps.

RE: First experiment with Plastidip

Gents, just this weekend I went to Walmart and picked up several cans of Plasti Dip spray paint. Was disappointed in that it only comes (or all WalMart carries anyway) was the matte black and matte dark grey. I was looking for a silver close to the bright Atlas silver of my grill and fender vents as well as a gloss black. I see they do make a gloss spray so I'll get that but anyone confirm if Plasti Dip comes in a bright silver (for the front bull bar)?

RE: First experiment with Plastidip

Hey do you guys remove the plastic moldings on the side before painting them?? I gave it a shot and painted them but the edges were not as clean as I want.

How hard is it to remove them?
