RE: FUEL CONSUMPTION Si4 / SD4 REAL LIFE NUMBERS

Just to add into the mix I clocked in an average mpg of just under 30 on my hour-long test drive in an Si4 today - was just A roads as no motorways near to Salisbury (nearest place I could find with an Si4 to test drive). I was taking the opportunity to try out its acceleration compared to the SD4 so there was a fair bit of heavy right-footing every now and then so overall I thought it wasn't too bad, and I definitely preferred the pace of the petrol to the diesel so think I'll be sticking with the Si4. It was nice to get to go out with it on my own without a salesman and I got a preview of what it's like to have people staring at the car too! Smile

Good on you! Si4 is the way to go and mpg was similar to my experience too with a far nicer drive overall compared to the oil burner IMHO .

I also think, with everyone now buying diesel cars, the price of diesel will start to increase at a greater rate than that of petrol. Plus a barrel of crude oil makes almost twice as much petrol as diesel.

FUEL CONSUMPTION Si4 / SD4 REAL LIFE NUMBERS

Anyone have any updates on this now you've done more miles?

I'm sort of expecting

Si4 = 25mpg

SD4 = 35mpg

The Si4 I test drove was averaging less than 20mpg and during my drive only just scraped over 20mpg.

Now Sold - Small, clean, fun car mainly for me - Sd4 Dynamic Lux - White/Black roof

Still going strong - Big, dirty, fun car mainly for the wife, kids and dog - Disco 4 - Blue (with lots of mud outside, sweets & litter inside)

Hi there, I do a fair amount of short trips in an SD4 Auto and see around 28mpg. If I go a little further I can get it a little better but on a recent 500 mile round trip, mostly motorways with a little town driving I managed 34MPG. I did once get 40 on a very gentle run but I wouldn't be buying one for the economy because there are better economy minded cars out there, however its still a great car. To make it truly great I think that it would need a 3.0 diesel because I really doubt one would be less economical and it would bring greater rifinement. I suppose there are always compromises with beauty?

I can see why you've only done 400 miles! Laughing those figures remind me of 1980's!

RE: FUEL CONSUMPTION Si4 / SD4 REAL LIFE NUMBERS

Sorry to go all metric on you folk - but I'm averaging 14 liters per 100 km, all urban trips - and I'm at 650 km on my SI4. it is a couple of liters worse than I would prefer- but with gas prices at $1.40 per litre, I'm not concerned that I'll be paying $3 more per 100km than my Audi. The engine is new and Evoque soooooooo worth it! Smile
