Evoque Safety Test

http://theage.drive.com.au/motor-feature...1p5d6.html

Hmmm.....Evoque scores only 4/5 in Australian vehicle testing, would've been nice to have a maximum 5 star.

This is not an EPIC fail, but it certainly a detraction as I'm sure we would all like to know we're safe. There shouldn't be any reason why other premium cars get 5 stars and Evoque only gets 4 regardless of whatever excuses Land Rover uses.

RE: Evoque Safety Test

"The Range Rover Evoque scored 12.39 out of 16 in the offset crash test. (ANCAP requires at least 12.5 for a 5-star rating). "
so it was 'only' 0.11 away from 5 stars.

I'm not really sure why the failure on the drivers chest would be any different from european config, and therefore have different ratings from the Euro NCAP results?

Infact, just reading on.... "The passenger's head was cushioned by the airbag but Euro NCAP found that it allowed the head to contact the dashboard and so a one point deduction was applied".
Call me a sceptic, but it can't be an independent test if they deduct points based on someone elses findings... especially since they did not find the same results themself?! Surprised
in which case, that extra 1 point would have given you the 5 stars Very Happy lol

Euro NCAP had the same results for the drivers chest, but they don't immediately "disqualify" a car for having one weaker element, they only consider the whole performance. 5* in EU makes us feel safe and 4* in AU worries us, while the results are the same?
Based on the CO2 emissions, they tested the eD4 2WD. Not sure if this matters.

RE: Evoque Safety Test

When i used to work at peugeot, 206s bound for Australia used to have a different safety configuration for side impact bars than Euro spec vehicles, due to differing homologation standards, not sure if these rules still apply, and it was 10 years ago, but might have something to do with it.

Don't get too dramatic mate, cars have not got 5 stars in the past ANCAP for having a starter button instead of key start, that would make heaps of difference in safety Rolling Eyes

They did not even test the car themselves !

All modern cars are designed with crumple zones and air bags. Remember the best and most value piece of safety equipment for a car is that mass behind the wheel.

Pure TD4, Fiji, Auto, Pan Roof + Extras - Delivered Very Happy

RE: Evoque Safety Test

To be fair mate, I think your post is a load of crap.

My gf is a nurse and she's seen ppl survive terrible crashes in a micra and die in a 5 series (and that was just last month). In a car crash there's so many variables when it's your time to go its your time to go, 4 or 5 stars
