Its up to others if they follow him, within the law he can do what he wants. He has no duty to set an example just to play football.

He plays outside the laws of football and everyone in a position of power has a duty to set the correct example.

football has rules, and they have no bearing on what he does in his own time.

I think Balotelli is great...he's a very young man who is behaving like many of us would have done if we had his cash at his age. Anyone who expects a young footballer to be a role model or to set an example is nuts!

This country amazes me at times...we hear all the time about how much footballers get paid and how they set a bad example...I've never heard anyone question a rock star from smashing up hotel rooms and I've certainly never heard anyone question the money they make!

I am always amazed at how much grief Rooney gets...he ain't the sharpest tool in the box, has been in the public eye (beyond anything any of us can comprehend) since he was 16, and was brought up on a tough estate...what exactly do people expect of the guy?? I'm no United fan, but all things considered, I think he's done pretty well to have what is a pretty settled life and generally speaking, he behaves himself. I'm not condoning a couple of the things he's done...but if I'd had the money at his age I'd have done the same thing.

Tuesday rant over!

Where I live we are "privileged" to be allowed visits from the younger members of the Rangers and Celtic squads at weekends when they bring their AMG G-Wagons and Overfinched FFRR's with large jet-skis behind and more hangers on than you can imagine up to Loch Lomond for a day out. They have a minibus load of minders, not to protect them from the mobs of folks who want to be their friends but to ensure that they behave and don't get into trouble as one mention of misbehaving in the papers brings a lot of bad publicity for the clubs. For the most part they are pleasant enough folks but the same cannot be said for some of those who want to be their friends for the day who are often foul-mouthed and drunk members of the public out to provoke the footballers.

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

Could not have put it better myself. People need to get a grip on how they would behave in the same position.

What a truly appalling thing to say. I wouldn't and the vast majority of the population wouldn't. Thank you and goodnight.

So let me get this straight...

Balotelli has driven his flash car around Manchester giving the kids there something to aspire to. He has thrilled people by going into local schools. He has paid for a load of people's petrol. He gave a load of money to a homeless person.

Yeah...he is appalling!

Oh...and before you judge someone you don't know and a situation that you haven't experienced...perhaps you should read this...

Balotelli’s background is the heart of his inner conflict. Born in Palermo to Ghanaian immigrant parents, he struggled with serious health problems in his youth. When his family asked for help from social services, Mario, since recovered, was placed with foster parents in a wealthy, white suburban family. Things ended up contentious when he turned his back on his birth family, despite their repeated attempts to get him back, eventually accusing them abandoning him in a hospital and trying to cash in on his fame.

Not your typical upbringing and difficult enough for anyone to deal with, let alone the first homegrown black superstar in Italian soccer. And while race isn’t an excuse for Balotelli’s behaviour, it’s at least partly to blame, causing him to lash out at hurtful chants and taunts, and to withdraw away from the many he felt he could not trust to the point of isolation.

So perhaps we should be applauding his incredible achievements rather than having a pop at him for minor incidents that are negative.
