Exhaust or oily smell in the cabin

Car booked in for two days next week. My neighbour, who is 6' 6" leaned right across the engine and he said he could smell exhaust fumes down the back of the engine. I'm too short to do that

That explains how the fumes are getting into the cabin.

Hope they find it and sort it so you can get on and enjoy it!

Problem solved; The technicians at the dealership found a leaking downpipe joint and replaced a gasket and bolts. All better now.

Good to hear this has been fixed for you! One of my previous car's manufacturers had a recall issued on account of the exhaust manifold studs being not up to scratch and I believe it was causing a similar problem on some cars. No more smelly cabin for you!

Great news. I wonder if the two previous owners gave up on the car because of this smell?
