Disks and pads

If this is your first set of pads then it is unreasonable to have to replace the discs as well. There would appear to have been some additional wear caused to the disks. I would hold out and suggest to the dealer that this is a warranty issue. If they won't budge ask to speak to the dealer principal and ask him/her if they would be happy if it was their car.
It is not reasonable to have to replace discs with the first pad replacement

If the disc has been heated up through the pads being pressed onto it while driving, then it may well damage the disc, it could warp or change the toughening of the metal from the heat cycles. If you were going to the trouble of changing the pads, in this situation you might as well change the discs just because it is easy and cost effective to do... parts cost plus minimal labour.

Otherwise i'd agree 2-3 sets of pads to a disc in 'normal' circumstances.

Phil to do that much damage you would have had to be doing track days or driving down a very steep hill all day

No a stuck caliper (Possibly causing the OP's awful squeal) will cause the disc to heat up enormously... That was my point to the OP there has to be a more indepth fault to cause a dealer to request changing discs because they have been overheated... (he didn't mention if he was using it for track days... )

I know I've had 2 fail on the Mazda and just driving to the garage they are smoking. All that braking energy directly against the driving energy is just being continually pumped into the disc the whole time you are moving... not to mention the effect on your MPG.

That should come under warranty, that's if the dealer finds a binding calliper and admits to it
