Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) regeneration
I was pleasantly surprised to fing that the evoque has a owner enabled regeneration system for the DPF if it doesnt automatically purge itself.
I live in the sticks and it is almost impossible to meet some of the manufacturers criteria for the auto clean.
I asked my dealer about it as with my last car (Jag XF) the dealer didnt mention it and it ended with a bit of a battle to get them to pay for the regen at the dealership.
A friend of mine uses an additive in the fuel which allegedly reduces the time of the regen, but I think this may be a gimmick and difficult to prove if it works. Has anyone had any experience/problems with the DPF. It may be too early yet.

Can you elaborate on this please?

Ummm DPF regenerating additive sounds a bit like Snake Oil................ same as Redex and diesel fuel cetane enhancers!

Going by the owners manual the DPF regenerates automatically between 190-560 miles and at speeds between 40-70mph should take 10-20 minutes. I am not sure how it is driver activated, I am maybe being thick but I thought all DPFs regenerated automatically.

To my knowlege passive systems renerate through changing the ignition timing to increase the exhaust temperatures to cause the soot to burn away when the unit is around 45% full, also doing high revs will heat the exhaust up naturally which will cause this to happen naturally. Active systems have a special fluid that is injected into the exhaust as required and needs topping up at a service. (I believe we have a Passive system)
