Dacia Duster
I had a look round a Dacia Duster on Saturday - amazing amount of car for the money. If anybody is looking for a cheap winter car with some off-road ability look no further. Forget X1/X3, Q3/Q5, Tiguan and all the other pseudo-4x4's. The quality of the exterior and interior is certainly up there with them, don't know what it's offroad ability is like as I never got to drive the left hooker that was on display at the local garden centre. I was talking to a gentleman who had just sold his 290,000 miles Disco2 V8 for a Hyundai SUV and wished he had waited for the Duster, he then followed me back to my Evoque and had a look as he had not considered one as a replacement for his Disco as he thought the interior would be too small from the pictures - he was surprised that he could sit in the back and not feel at all squashed in.
The car on display was priced at £14k so I assume it was the top of the range car (it also had a leather interior that looked as if it had come straight out of an Audi) with 4WD as I believe the £8k car is 2WD only. The Koreans are going to have to watch this car as it will certainly take sales from them in the "budget SUV' end of the market.
A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

RE: Dacia Duster
Why I should drive the ugly Romanian car in the winter, if I am driving an Evouque?

Well believe or not ere are some people who don't want to risk driving their expensive, beautiful and exceptionally capable Evoque in the snow for fear if bashing it.

Yeah, big shame!!!! Its cheap car with very, very bad reviews. I will better drive expensive but safe Evoque like cheap and unsafe Duster. But anyhow, its a matter of taste.

I guess no marketing company was paid thousands to come up with that name... or the catch phrase "Shockingly Affordable".
The trouble with taking your Evoque out on the snowy winter roads, is not the Evoque, but the other cars on stupid low profile wide tyres that think they're invincible and can drive at normal speeds that then use your Evoque to stop themselves.

RE: Dacia Duster
Jojosr, I would in no way swap either my Evoque or my Defender for a Duster. The car I saw but didn't drive seemed very well built but I cannot comment on the drive as it was a stationary display car, not a road going demo. Maybe I should pitch up in my 16 year old battle scarred Defender at the nearest dealership and ask for an offload test.......... I'm sure if I appeared in the Evoque they wouldn't take me seriously!

There are a lot of Dacia's here in Slovakia and there are far the worse cars. But they are very, very cheap.
