Confused about Trailer Hitch and the need of stowage rails.....

Hi,
My dealer told me that if i plan to install a trailer hitch i have to order the loadspace stowage rails!
Is this true?
I'cant see a correlation.
Either this rails add's stability to the back of the car or the dealer want to sell me something more...
