I have a met black FL2 and it suffered from lots of swirl marks quite quickly. Sadly another reason for chosing a white or silver car in Germany as it hides lots of stratches (well from a couple of feet away at least).

Your correct in saying that LR paint is softer. All the German brands use "Hard Paint" Some even use a ceramic lacquer.
But LR use what is called a medium hardness paint, which will swirl & scratch easier.

Do you have hand wash companies in Germany ?

As long as you don't use one of those squeegee things, surprisingly an automated wash ain't as bad as you think ( still bad enough not to use one though )
Check this out-

Yep I can confirm BMW Paint is S**t, If I don't clean bird muck off my BMW asap, it eats into the lacquer and needs professionally buffing out!

RE: Car wash machines ?

I seem to recall someone posting that their roof spoiler was ripped off, when they put their car through an automated wash, scratched paint fairly insignificant in comparison.

Evoque No3: MY15 Dynamic Lux SD4, Auto, Santorini Black, Pimento Dynamic Plus Sports Seats, Ebony headlining, Pan Roof, Shadow Chrome Alloys.

RE: Car wash machines ?

Apparently the worst are rollers and bentleys - they say never put a GB sticker (or similar) on as you will strip off the paint when you remove it!

This would likely happen to any car with a roof/tailgate spoiler. I am on the MG ZR Forum & a few members on there over the years have had this problem.......
