Car Alarm

My car window on the Evoque was smashed the other day and valuables were stolen - the issue which annoyed me the most of that the car alarm did not go off. The door was not opened as the car was locked. Can anyone explain this? LR Cyprus said it wasn't supposed to sound an alarm as no door was opened etc.

Reason for this thread is I wish to buy an aftermarket alarm system which will be extremely sensitive to even glass shattering etc.

Thanks

Did you double press the lock button (you hear a beep). That's how you arm the alarm in the UK

Yes the ultrasonic sensors are only active if you double lock. Single lock should only be used if you need to leave someone in the car or windows open.

Personally I think LR should reverse the logic... One press for double lock and two presses to single lock which is the less common requirement.

RE: Car Alarm

Anyone noticed if it can it be configured to double lock always on 1 press? as I dont have a dog I wish to cook or suffocate in my car so would prefer it to just full lock, which I always do anyway with the dual press...

RE: Car Alarm

Forget car alarms: nobody cares about it. With one exception: Yourself, due to the frequent false alarms.

And even if someone would care: What do you think how long it took to grab your valuables? Much longer than a "Huh, what's that?".

Buy a fake-car alarm (flashing red LED) and leave nothing of value in the car.

RE: Car Alarm

Yes. And wait for the trauma after the fist of your neighbour has hit you hard on the chin. Thats when your ultra-sensitive alarm again went off at 3 am because a fly was in the car, a lorry passed nearby, a cat walked over the roof, the battery went low ...

And: The alarm goes off after the window was smashed = multiple traumas!

Just leaving nothing of value in the car with glovebox open is too difficult?
