As an experienced French car owner my advice about the Renault is buyer beware. Also consider joining AussieFrogs.

My parents have one of these in silver. Personally I think it is overpriced ($110k Down Under), bland, boring to drive, and the optional stereo is CRAP! But they like it. Though it is bigger than Evoque if you need the extra room.

RE: Finally decided to cancel order

Test drove the Megane again today as well as a Subaru WRX STI R Spec Hatch. Strangely the Megane rode allot harder than the two I drove a week ago. The WRX was surprisingly quiet and the ride was ok. Power was extreme. Looking at a 2010 that has only 8K on the clock and it is the same price as the Megane. May be a better option.

Cheers

I would go for the WRX just for the sound of that flat four, love the burble it has at low speed and the sound at full throttle makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!
The Megane gets great reviews tho, well, except for the harsh ride maybe.

RS Megane does have a very hard ride in Cup guise - my sons is in Renaultsport Yellow and I can guarantee that a WRX stood next to it would look very bland in comparison.

Put a holding deposit on a White 2010 WRX STI Hatch. It has been repossessed, done only 8K and has all the options including Recaros. Price wise it is 12K less than a brand new one. What I plan to do is change the suspension to provide a softer ride. Already got a quote 30 way adjustable shocks $1200. This way I get all the advanced feature of the STI with the comfortable ride I want.

Cheers

Sounds like a good plan. An STI is like the complete opposite of an Evoque.

You are not wrong, I went for a test drive last Saturday and I could not get over the enormous power they put to the ground.

Size wise the WRX Hatch is slightly larger and I am guessing has slightly more interior room. I also expect it will use 2-3 L/100kms more than the Evoque but as I am paying 20K less I can live with this.

Cheers

RE: Cancelled order

Just sent email advising the dealer that I am cancelling the order for the Evoque. LR just released AU prices and stated that they will go on sale in November.

Good luck to everyone. I am guessing that this will be my last post. Been fun and thanks for all your help.

Cheers

Hope you see this post FB; are prices on the web? I can't locate any; or was this something the dealer told you?

Both the WRX and EVO are great bang for bucks cars, if you can live with the interior quality level.
