Can you leave an iPod connected permanently?

Small question (and probably been covered) but can you leave an iPod permanently connected in the centre arm rest without causing battery drain to the vehicle? Would appreciate any thoughts.

RE: Can you leave an iPod connected permanently?

Don't see why not. As far as I know the iPod connector goes dead (for power supply anyway) the same time as the other power outlets go off. It may stay live when the sockets are off but the audio system is switched on, but I have not checked.

I leave mine connected at all times and have never noticed a problem. No flat batteries on the car, or the iPod for that matter.

I agree with Fujisan, I leave mine connected all the time and never had a problem in 8 months of ownership.

As above, although I do sometimes have to re-boot it as the car 'forgets' it is connected - maybe 'cos it gets SO cold ?

I have an original "touch" which is always connected and you can hear it go "live" when you open the door.

Yes I connected a USB light to the centre console USB socket, it goes out a few minutes after the car is locked and comes on when unlocked.
