Can adaptive dampers fail?

It seems to me that a lot of people are speccing the adaptive dampers. I'm not a mechanic and was wandering, do they fail at all, and if so, how often compared to normal suspension setups. If they do fail, does anyone know the cost of replacing a failed damper?

RE: Can adaptive dampers fail?

They can fail, any mechanical component will eventually fail, but damper failure is much rarer these days, and I don't see why the dampers would be more prone to failure excluding the fact there must be wires involved in addition to the damper hydraulics. They will be more expensive to replace of course, no idea how much though.
