Isn't the phone mic inside a little circular grille just beside the steering wheel column?
5 door MY12 Fuji Dynamic Plus with shadow chromes, santorini contrast roof, power tailgate and a couple of added rattles!
Mods - Black RR bonnet vents, Side steps, Silicone rear wiper, rear sill protector, rear sill plates, LED interior lighting conversion, 2014 Sat Nav update.

It looks a much more professional effort at a phone mic than the said black box behind the mirror.

can one of the OPs post a photo of said black box please? and then we can all check (and maybe figure out what it is)
at the moment I don't think this is in my car but need a photo to be sure.

That look like it Trev  , how does <044F58 relate to LR025376, did you put the red box on the diagram?
