Big hard disk

You can only use 2,5" laptop harddrives through usb without extra power, although an SSD might also work. Those are also shock proof but cost a fortune.

Mine is a 2.5 maxtor it should work but when it's plugged in it humm funny sound.

It comes in 250GB and 500GB versions.

It is a spinning hard disc drive and so is susceptible to shocks, but it is also a "tough drive" and, allegedly, can be chucked down stairs, etc., without failing. Should handle itself fine with the smooth ride of the Evoque...

"tough drive" referes to it having the ability to park the heads whilst turned OFF, not to be checked arround in glovebox whilst being switched ON ...

SSD is the best option here, you may want to search for a drive caddy that has USB connectivity that you can slot an SSD into... other drives with moving parts will not like the changes in direction or vibration that can be present when driving down the road ...

Should work if it's a 2,5" drive. I wonder if the cabinet drains power for its lights or something. So far I have only had an old macbook which didn't provide enough power. I needed to use a second usb connector to power the drive, which is an option since the evoque should have two if I'm correct. Give it a try without the cabinet first.

I'll start with a usb stick I think, or an old iPod touch.

It's working now after I reformatted to FAT format, still I think tough drive is better, since the music skips while driving. I will explore SSD drive later. I have about 8000 songs wonder what is the best way to transfer all my music into it in nice folders etc.

I hear some said iTunes a new folder with all the music you need then transfer to your SSD etc , any tips and tricks?

You can use windows media player to reorganise your files or download tageditor which it great for renaming and moving files based on the artist/title etc.
