Australian service pricing

Hi All, I decided to start a specific thread for Australian service pricing because the other thread is full of European location pricing.

My car is due for a service, I've been quoted AU$790 by Barbagallo in Perth, WA for the first annual service. Is this good/bad? Must it be serviced by them or can I go elsewhere? Will it affect my warrantee? I don't remember the service price being that high when I purchased the car.

Does it get cheaper into year 2 and 3?

RE: Australian service pricing

You should be able to service your car at any LR dealership during the warranty period. I registered a corporate company number with the purchase of my car so I have 3 years of free scheduled servicing (not including parts of course). After that, not sure what it will cost as too early to tell yet!

I'm also on the corporate plan but considering the Evoque is serviced annually, $790 doesn't sound too bad at all.

I had a Honda before and my first service was 1 month after picking it up, then 1 after 3 months and once every 6 months afterwards. And I was wondering how come the Evoque only has 1 service a year? Anyone? Thanks.

Nissan has the same silly policy. I probably heard every cock & bull story as to why the 6 month intervals are required, but not heard the truth which is "we make money of it". If you do not adhere to the intervals, you void your warranty, thus they have you by the short & curly.
You can have a look at the international (manufacturer recommendation) where the same vehicle is subject to different service intervals than specified in Australia.
This is fortunately not the case with JLR.

RE: Australian service pricing

My experience with servicing has been awesome and cheaper then expected for my first luxury car.

Being a mechanic I couldn't fathom the 21,000km wait for it's first service and insisted for 5,000km with my dealer.

I've now done 22,000km and had three services all by Tony Island Townsville and have been very happy with service and price. I paid between $200-$300 for my basic services and $300-$400 for the annual. They all included a oil change and check over. Bonus was they drop me off at the airport and pick me up or give me a demo till it's done ^_^

RE: Australian service pricing

My Evoque went in around 5,500km for fitting of mud guards so I also asked then to do a minor service and change the oil so this is what I paid

Filter oil TD4: $25.59
5W30 Castrol Edge Pr: $107.10
Washer drain: $6.66
Service cost: $105.00

Total $244.35 and then reimbursed by the lease company

RE: Australian service pricing

Over east seems to be priced a lot cheaper than here in WA. I put it down to a lack of competition so they seem to try and get away with steeper prices because they know they can.

The one here says that the reason it's pricier is because of the pollen air filter (change).

Changing oil at 3500 miles is ridiculous (even in a harsh climate). With modern oils and engineering it just isn't necessary. Even 30 years ago the intervals were 5000 to 6000 miles. Have confidence in the technology, move with the times and save yourself some money

Australian service pricing

First major service at Trivett in Sydney - $840. A few weeks ago!
Thing is, as I'm writing this I'm waiting for a tow truck as my evoque has died and LR assistance unable to revive it.
Why do cars always break down immediately after they're serviced!!
