RE: Australian Deliveries

Unlike a lot of people it seems my experience has been fantastic, with the exception of trying to buy from Trivetts, my dealer has kept me fully informed with constant phone contact. All my queries have been answered and I am very excited about my delivery in march.

I've heard that too. Is this a tactic their sales team are using? Like the Evoque is so popular, in such high demand, I should feel priviledge that any sales person has anytime to speak to me at all? Well, it makes me feel like an ant, that's already been stepped on.

RE: Australian Deliveries

to be quite honest, I haven't hesitated to tell a sales person to F off before and I wouldn't hesitate to say that again..

first rule of sales is never judge anyone... but some people just don't get it..

I actually had a conversation with one sales person today, who actually served me 6 years ago from BMW, today he is the dealer manager at one of the dealers at BMW, and over time I have purchased 2 cars from him.. and I told him today that I ended up getting the Evoque instead of the X1/ X3 and that it was the wife's decision, But was general conversation led me to tell him what I experienced at MLR and he was absolutely dumb founded! he couldn't believe me.. he said that if one of his staff ever did that, he would be the first to walk the staff member out of the dealership and is never to enter again..

I still remember the very first day that I walked in to a BMW dealer and he greeted me and asked me what I was after etc.. he was very polite and actually had a conversation with me, I remember, I was wearing thongs, I was 23 and unshaved (is the most kindest words, not a perfect BMW customer) but the service I received, made me purchase the car form him along with a second car and finally today I put a deposit on a 1M with him.. now thats repeat business based on customer service and of course the product.

LR on the other hand has got a great Product, but some dealers seriously lack on customer service.
now what I am about to say next might open a can of worms, but just to let you know that's its my personal opinion only.
I believe that one of the reasons for me to get poor customer service was the fact that the sales person could be racist. saw me as being young, I explained him that its a gift for my wife and that I walked in shorts and thongs.

he probably thought, he comes another young guy just wanting to test drive a car.. and couldn't be bothered with me, not realising that he just lost over a 100k in business.

Delivered - FUJI WHITE > EBONT BLACK > SD4 DYNAMIC > PANO ROOF > RSE > SAT NAV > FPD > PWR TAILGATE > 19" Style 4 Wheels and a few others..

Isn't that agist rather than racist?

RE: Australian Deliveries

agist and racist as I am an Indian.. so he probably thought, oh well, he wont have the money and just wants a test drive.

stereotyped me, I guess.

meh.. dont care, just bitching here! but he sadly lost the sale..

RE: Australian Deliveries

Guys why don't you write to LR Australia and explain your experience. I am sure they would value your buyer experience, I know if I was the CEO I couldn't pay enough to get that information (good or bad).

I have drafted my letter and will bd sending tomorrow to explain my experience, which has been average.

I remember my old man writing to Jaguar UK explain how hopeless the Australian dealers were. He got a call direct from the UK and resulted in a certain dealer almost losing their license (plus a worldwide recall). The other thing, unexpected, was a lot of official Jaguar merchandise. Smile

RE: Australian Deliveries

I agree with BarneyRidge...

We all have good/bad experiences with dealers, and most of them.... seem bad.

I guess I have been very lucky in the sense that I haven't had any issues and have in fact - had quite a dream with LR shockingly and much to my delight.

But there is no point in complaining and complaining about dealers if you don't take action. I agree 100% that every LR dealer in the world is no where near the quality of Mercedes or BMW, or in fact Audi.

Recently bought the facelifted C-Class for my dad and the sales experience was absolutely unreal! I don't think I have ever received that level of service - and I was there in a t-shirt, jeans and thongs.

I am indian too and I totally agree there are times when they look at you and they're like oh, he can't afford this he's just wasting my time. And to be honest that actually happened at Southern Land Rover in Cannington (Perth). He didn't give a crap about me looking at the Ipanema Sand Evoque. Asked him if it were possible to test drive it - was about 4 15 in the afternoon - and he said we can if you want, but you won't get much experience with the car now its peak hour.... "I'll call you next week and then we can take it around". Gave him my number etc, asked if there was a firenze coming in anytime soon as that was a very nice colour - he just said No, but I can show you a picture.

No Sh*t Sherlock I can look on the internet if I want to see a picture!

Either way, I called him back and told him I ordered a Prestige Firenze for about $122k for delivery in March.... and I said I got it from Barbagallo. He said, oh but why? I was going to call you!

"NO YOU WEREN'T" and then hung up.

Ok, so moral of the story, I didn't buy a prestige worth $122k, cannot afford that.... but... I understand many people come in to just look at the car, thats fair enough - it is stunning! But that doesn't mean you can't offer your full service - someone who may not have previously been interested could end up being.... very interested!

Write to LR Australia and explain your experience to them. There is a reason they are customer sales representatives, if they don't provide you with a very happy experience when you buy a fairly expensive car, you have a right to complain!
