Makes sense, but if one can get a perfectly good GPS signal through a heated windscreen when using a portable SatNav, I am struggling to see how a few microns of paint will make any difference

I was using an industrial GPS receiver dome antenna today and it clearly had written on it DO NOT PAINT!

All the domed antennae and whip aerails on the ship also have that written on them, from experience of a 'thick" sailor who did paint one even the satcom domes (1m+ in diameter) onboard cannot transmit or receive through a coating of enamel paint........... expensive mistake that one!
