RE: Actual price to pay

Just to clarify.............

The pre-VAT price is protected (by the manufacturer to the dealer) only when the order is placed with the factory. I don't know of any dealers that don't pass this on to the customer in their T's & C's. We are quoting Q3 2012 now (to be on the safe side) therefore it would not be commercially viable to risk absorbing any price increases.

If the dealer is quoting April delivery then they are not anticipating ordering the car with LR until January.

As posted by the OP, VAT and Road Tax is always susceptible to the budget.

Hope this helps?

RE: Actual price to pay

That's very helpful, so when you have a build date, the net price is frozen and it's only taxes which will get you.

RE: Actual price to pay

The important thing is a factory order number.

This is the current procedure which LR have honored, but could be changed in the future.

RE: Actual price to pay

My dealer has clearly told me that since I have a factory order number (accepted on the system 15th April) [although we haven't got a build date yet] the price I pay is the price I agreed on my order form, so for example, I won't pay more now that the more panoramic roof price has gone up.

My dealer was quite clear that if it's in the LR ordering system you won't pay more. I hope this helps with your discussions with the dealer.

Clearly VAT, RFL changes cannot be protected.

RE: Actual price to pay

Many thanks for all your responses, really helps a lot.

I guess the crux is that the order is not likely to be placed with LR until January and so I would be impacted by any price changes to the base price between now and then but as you say, once I have the order number then that is the base price I'll pay.

Thanks again for the insight into the processes.
