Accessory Outlet problem

I just took delivery of mine last night and nothing I've plugged into either accessory outlet will turn on. Even though the illuminated trim rings around the accessory port is list, the port itself doesn't seem to have power. Am I missing something? Is there a setting somewhere I overlooked?

Silly question but do you have ignition on or off when trying accessories, some sockets only work in on position or 'standby'. Try pushing start stop button to get ignition on status i.e'. warning lights but dont start car, then try sockets. Manual will tell you exactly what to do.

Fuse perhaps :

I believe engine has to be running for front ports to work but I also think there is one in the boot that is permanently live, try that one.

My Freelander sockets are all live so far as I know.

so I figured out what the problem is. The fuse is a 20 amp, which is underpowered for the outlet. Switched to 25 amp and its fine now

What on earth are you powering up to blow a 20amp fuse

The front Freelnder one is not permanently live, the rear one is. If you've got one in the boot, I'm not sure either way as I've never used mine.

I wish it were that simple. It's just a cell-phone charger. Nothing special, just a standard Cellet microusb charger. However, even when I plugged my new Escort Passport 9500ix charger into the cigar outlet, the fuse blew the moment it was plugged in. I went through 3 different 20 amp fuses before I decided to try throwing in the 25 amp fuse. Once I put the 25 in, everything worked fine and stopped snapping fuses.

Interestingly enough, my friend had the same exact issue with his 2012 Volvo S60 and after I did mine, I put a 25 in his as well and his is now working for the first time since he got the car.

I told my dealer about it today and he said he knew nothing about it (of course), but said that he didn't understand why it would snap the fuses instantly either.

I guess it will remain a mystery.

It takes 240W to blow a 20amp car fuse, if you up the fuse rating beyond design you are relying on the loom wiring being overspecced, you'll probably get away with it, but not getting away with it means burning out your loom! the device blowing the fuse must be faulty or cheap and nasty and personally i'd bin it rather than run a risk... fuses have a purpose... ignore at your peril!
