34.2MPG In My Si4.

Drove from Blackpool 285 miles down to home in Kent yesterday (Sunday) & it read 34.2 mpg which I didn't think was bad tbh.
Was a mixture of sports mode & normal drive. Had 2 stops at services with only one or two minor slow downs for minimal roadworks, put cruise control on and that was set around 66mph.

Very good!!
Better than my SD4, currently sitting at 28mpg

No seriously though, not hooning around (all the time), and I'm pretty disappointed at this... my "Fuelly" average over 4 fill ups is sitting at 30.6

Wow, that's impressive! My best was 26mpg (granny driving), average sitting at about 24mpg at the moment.

I think you must have put your lad out the back to push it Valeter! But it goes to show that if you keep your speed down a bit you can reap rewards. BTW Cruise control is not an economy device it is a comfort device. I think most regular users will agree with me that on hilly drives cruise control cannot act anywhere near as sensitively as a gentle right foot and it generally opens the throttle a bit too much on up-hill sections and climbs, where it pays dividends is on the down hill and flat where your right foot gets a little tired and tends to imperceptibly press down and you drive faster than you intend, especially in a car as quiet as the Evoque on the motorway you don't realise that you are getting faster.

+1, everyone always seems to think cruise control is good for economical driving, whereas in fact it's quite the opposite especially as Tim says when it comes to hills. For best economy you should build momentum going downhill to use on the uphill, but CC won't do that for you - it'll brake to your set speed going downhill and then work hard to maintain the speed going back up again. Going down a hill at 65mph then back up at 55 is more economical than going down at 60 and up at 60.

Maybe best way to get a feel for mpg in the Evoque is for us all to be clear about the model we're driving and the average speed on a trip that produces the mpg.

I'm averaging 41.7 mpg over first 1950 miles of ownership. But I have an ED4 so am expecting higher mpg than others (it's what i traded the 4x4 for). My average speed over that time is still only 30mph.

On a long trip B, around 200 miles with passenger, luggage and 35kg dog, I averaged 50mpg. But average speed was up in 40s mph.

My 41.7 mpg compares to a stated ed4 model of 56 mpg on combined. But I suspect a combined figure is based on a higher average speed than 30mph and discounts weight of passengers, dog, bags and pano roof.

Will try to meet my own standard and give exact avg speed returning mpg later.

35kg dog!!!!!!!!!, bet that takes some feeding?

Combined cycle speed of the official tests is IIRC 56mph so you have to drive faster Matty
