Really? Definitely not worth it!

Having done some research regarding the supposed 300 burps... I cannot see JLR "producing" a bigger engine until late this year or early next at the very earliest!

In my opinion, I would say they would be mad to produce the higher brake horse power car in the very near future. I would think that the factory would want to convert present Si4 owners to the more powerful car. If they produce it earlier, prospective clients would possibly cancel their Si4 orders and convert to the alternative 300BHP car. By waiting the manufacturers and dealers would have two, if not three bites of the cherry. Three bites would be when the dealer takes in the old car as part exchange and manages to go again for more profit!!!

It makes simple commercial sense!

Nice find. Perhaps it may mean something to the greens but what a lot of money spent to make a good car a little less so and boy did they go make it look tacky.

Ok, so if Clarkson let it slip on Top Gear that he heard about the 300 bhp and a convertible and one already turned out to be the truth, how long before we see the 300 bhp version?

I doubt you'll see a 300bhp model, maybe the 2.0-litre EcoBoost I-4 engine upgraded to 250-280bhp (even though it puts out 300 in the Focus RS). To get to 300bhp it would have to use Volvo 2.3-litre four or go hybrid or the next-gen 2.0-litre EcoBoost so in that case it would be 2015.

Wish I could put my 3.5l V6 engine in it ;-(

Maybe this was the 300bhp version that Clarkson was talking about.

No way is this the rumoured 300bhp model.



ETA, oh, I see it's an old post that has been bumped... but I stand by my comments

I'm not an engine guru, but not sure how much more they will squeeze out of the diesel engine? Unless they go 2.5 or 3.0l - which again is heavier and needs more space.
