RE: 19 or 20" wheels?

I have gone for 20" primarily because kit comes with my order on the Dynamic, and secondly 99% of my driving will be on road (Tarmac).

As i have ordered the Dynamic I asked the alloy designer at the NEC Evoque live if the 20" were ok in preference to downgrading to the 19", and he said they will be fine with no loss to overall ride comfort, but not recommended for serious off road driving.

Based on my discussion and his overall enthusiasm I'm confident they will be fine - chrome shadow wheels were his favourite design and was tempted to upgrade but have stuck to default.

Arrived 22nd December - SD4 Dynamic Auto, Fuji White, Panoramic/Contrast Roof, Dynamic Plus & Lux Pack

RE: 19 or 20" wheels?

I'm going for 19" Style 4, 6 spokes. They should be easy to keep clean. They're also my favourite design.
When I had the RRS, a lot of guys switched to 20" wheels as they looked better than the 19's. However, over the next couple of years, some of the guys on the RRS forum seemed to switch back to 19's - Not 100% sure why, but I think the 20s were v. easy to damage due to kerbing.
Also, I believe 20" tyres are a lot more expensive than the equivalent 19's - please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm happy with my choice of wheels, even though I haven't seen them on "my car" yet.

Ride on 19" rims is(imho) better than 20"

I run 20" in the summer and 19" with general at2's in winter.
But unfortunately the 20" look way better Very Happy. Otherwise I would leave the 19" rims on all year cheaper and last longer.

I assume the same will be the case with the Evoque as my Sport.

Ordered Dynamic in orkney metalic and 190ps diesel for wife. Delivery October.
Happy lady Cool I'll stick with my TDV8 Sport Wink

RE: 19 or 20" wheels?

Having re-read the first article in the TopGear magazine I now realise the pictures we saw (in Spotted) were for TG magazine not the TV show..... anyhow as these pictures clearly show they did use a Dynamic with 20" wheels to do the "can we get to the top of the mountain" article all the positive comments about ride and handling on and off road can be attributed to a car with 20" wheels (& AD).

I feel much better now.

.... and BTW TG Magazine REALLY like the Evoque

SD4 Prestige Sport Auto 5 Door, Sumatra Black with Ambience interior, Magneride AD, 20" Style 6 Wheels, Panoramic Roof, Surround Cameras, Electric Tailgate, ADRVM.......& Heated Steering Wheel......Gorgeous
