I live 30m above sea level in Central Scotland and we have already had some frosty nights and there is snow on the tops of the hills on the other side of the Forth Valley from where I live. So time to activate the winter wiper parking position and switch the wiper auto on function off when there is an over night frost forecast and your car is left outside overnight. I'm dodging off to work in the lands where the swallows, cuckoos and ospreys all head to for the winter but will be leaving the wipers set up for when my brother "exercises" my car while I am away. He thinks the heated front screen and winter wiper park system on my cars is brilliant, he doesn'r have either on his Audi A4 All Road!

Things aren't that bad down here in the south (7 degrees at 630 this morning), but it's going to get colder. Thanks for the reminder about the wipers.

Out of interest, do the door rubbers freeze up like they did on my Range Rover? Last year, I managed to rip some of the seal off trying to get the door open.

If we get a cold winter, I'll be missing my pre-heater.

Yes definitely they do, I normally spray some silicone spray along the top edges of the doors on the seals.

Top tip. Thanks Phil.

Another way to stop the seal freezing to the body (and the repair used to be a warranty claim when I had my 1st RRS and FFRR whwer they regualarly froze to the body and it was considered a design fault by LR! Those were the days......) is to take a microfleece cloth around the seals when you park up for the night and dry them thoroughly

It hit 40 degrees here yesterday, about 13 degrees above average, pretty hot. Solar attenuating glass windscreen a must here. Pretty much exactly the opposite side of the world to Scotland!

3 degrees here.

Vaseline on the door seals stop them freezing.

Another use for the silicon spray as I had to do mine last night. It was only just touching 0! It was last used to lube the rear seat catches to stop them squeaking.

Yep, I used white silicon spray grease for that, seems to last longer!

Sigh.

Minus 4 degrees when I left the house this morning. I was diligent enough to silicon spray the car door and it opened without getting frozen up.

I completely forgot about the wipers though and they came on right away and ripped off most of the driver side blade (always has to be the driver side, doesn't it?).
