Pure hid conversion done today - Jonathon555 - 08-10-2013 07:27pm

Well with my car eating halogen bulbs at an alarming rate & dark nights rolling in again.

I decided to convert my halogen bulbs to HID ( yes i know about headlight washers and self levelling ) but the standard pure lights are just plain dangerously dim.

I could not face another winter with candles fitted to the front of the car ( my car was ordered when you could not order xenons)

The parts cost £34.95 delivered off ebay ( you could pay more if you want)

The fitting of he bulbs, ballasts wiring etc took 35 mins all done, no cutting or anything to do

And the result is a good set of headlights.

Should have done it sooner.

I would be interested in your "plan", not for my Evoque but to convert the birthday cake candles that form the headlights on my Defender to HID's

Interesting. Any chance of some photos? Can you give us the link to the eBay item?

Nice one! I've fitted HID kits to 3 of my previous cars that came without Xenon headlights from factory. So long as they are fitted into lights with projector lenses (as standard in all models of Evoque) and not reflectors and the lamps are correctly aimed I see no problem with it at all. One of them passed yet another MOT this year no problem, without auto levelling or washers and I never had an oncoming driver flash me in all the time I owned it. I look forward to seeing the pics of your lovely new bright lights! Very Happy Paula xx

I've had 2 x 6K kits and the last one I used on our X5 was 5K and I found the light output from the 5K was significantly better than the 6K. Just a swap over to 5K bulbs would probably make quite a difference to you in output and as you say the colour would match your LED's better than the 8K's. Good job for sure! It's literally like night and day comparing Halogens to Xenons, lol. Very Happy Paula xx
