Charlie I have it on my FullFat RR, LR privacy glass is very dark, almost limo black. Yes it does make the rear noticibly darker HOWEVER, if you are speccing the Rear Seat Entertainment it would make viewing the screens a lot easier in bright sun, it does also have a cooling effect to some extent and also stops little people in the back from getting sunburned on sunny days on a long trip. TBH Pentagon do a much lighter tint that might suit you. Another point is that the last 3 Range Rovers I have owned there were TV and Radio antennae on the glass - if you spec factory fitted privacy glass then the glass is tinted, it isn't film so the antennae cannot be seen from the outside, with any of the aftermarket tinting films they often get a tiny amount of air trapped along the antennae wires and it looks awful from the outside as the normally invisible antenna wire suddenly look 3 times their normal diameter, unless the film is stuck on the exterior of the glass, which makes it liable to peel off.

Really appreciate all that Tim, so always worth getting factory fit then despite being darker

IN ANZ we can get all side and rear windows tinted, so here we generally do not order factory as it is almost impossible to match. We generally get it done by a local tint company.

Cheers

Hi Griff,

I think the auto includes paddle shift. £1600 gets you the auto transmission, paddle shift and sport mode. All the automatics are £1600 more than their manual equivalents.

Maybe someone can correct me if they have been told otherwise.

Griff, according to my dealer you can have contrast roof and panoramic BUT why pay £500 to have the entire roof painted and then stick the panoramic glass roof in it thus leaving yourself with the edges of the roof in contrast colour! Maybe it's my tight Scottish wallet but it doesn't make sense to me to pay so much for the contrast roof and then spec the panoramic roof. It looks good though!

RE: Evoque Speccing - SW6RR - 25-03-2011 03:45pm

LP - you're right on the 1600 point - there's no flappy paddle extra - if you get an auto model then you get the flappy paddles also.

Agree with FFT on the roof. I was never that keen on the contrast roof anyway, so never had to weigh up the pros and cons of spending £500 on half a square metre of paint...!

RE: Evoque Speccing - XFullFatTim - 25-03-2011 06:23pm

I think the contrast roof looks great but it has 2 "problems" if you spec it - one is the wicked cost if you also spec the panoramic roof but the other is that you loose one of the styling queues of all Range Rovers, the floating roof effect. To my aged and failing eyesight the contrast roof in Santorini actually makes the car look like a cabrio with the hood up! I think the Martininque Blue on 2012.5MY cars will look great with a white roof and so will Firenze Red with a White Roof (pity that there aren't any white alloys on the options list too!) on a 5 door. The Black or Baltic Blue 5 doors should look good with a silver or white roof. How long before giant Union flags and chequers are available for your Evoque roof, same same as Mini? Maybe something for the like of DCC 4x4 to think about!

TBH I thought the same .... keep a well defined floating roof. However in reality its the amazing wedge shape that dominates the car - everything else sort of becomes irrelevant. Having seen about 20 combos yesterday - the Red with Black roof in Dynamic did look absolutely sensational (it was the only one I saw in natural light) Extremely dramatic and a real head turner. I've never considered a red car before but now I'm thinking about it very seriously.

BTW that’s why an all Black car looks good too as it really highlights the cars very unique shape (in silhouette) - this car doesn't look like anything else out there.
