iOS 7 and Siri in the Car - Crabacle - 11-06-2013 06:45pm

On last night's Apple WWDC keynote, Tim Cook and Co announced for iOS 7 supported Siri in the Car or Eyes-Free followed by a graphic showing manufacturers who would be implementing it in 2014.

On graphic was a sexy Jaguar, but not the notorious Land Rover emblem.

Question is - will Jaguar be extending that to their Land Rover range and providing it in the Evoque via a software upgrade?

Any way of finding out?

I know, I hope Jaguar shares Siri support with Land Rover as well.

*fingers crossed*

I'm sure you know that the Jag and LR systems are the same - that's why the 'secret' menu is all Jaguar branded.

I do however, very much doubt that you'll get it as a software update - certainly not a free one anyway!! Shocked

I'm sure 'new' models will have something incorporated though.

It's just software - nothing else is needed.

Unbelievable, iOS7 has yet to RTM or go GA and people on here are asking the question will my LRE have support for iOS7/Siri ... think there are bigger issues to be resolved before ICE system upgrades ! - Fuel Economy for one !!

I have a video of iOS7 running in the RRE uploading now!

I expect that if/when it comes it will be on a new model year, eg we know it problably won't be on 2014 cars, but it could be on 2015 MY. Next, JLR has a long on glorious history of NOT making upgrades like this available on older cars, they have traditionally
incorporated such changes with something like new hardware meaning it cannot be rolled backwards to older cars - the 2007 upgrades to the satnav system for example on RRS and FFRR could not be applied to say a 2004MY car because LR changed the hardware at the same time!
