Just a few pics of a fun morning in the snow with Motor Safari (http://www.motor-safari.co.uk) being taught a bit about off-road snow and ice driving. And doing figure-of-8 sliding around with DSC off - hoping they'll send me the video soon.

Did a drive first in their Land Cruiser, then in my Evoque -- much nicer to drive! But less capable with the big ruts, plastic Dynamic bodykit and standard tyres.

Main problems from Evoque: ground clearance, and Pirelli Scorpion Verde M+S tyres -- didn't do a *bad* job, but instructors felt proper winter tyres would have made a difference.

Did you spec the car with 19" wheels instead of the 20's?

Yes, I could only see advantages: better ride quality, cheaper tyres, more choice of tyres, less risk of damaging alloys.

IMO they look at least as good as the 20" wheels and maybe better (more purposeful, for what that's worth).

And everyone was complaining on here about the tyres supplied as standard on the 20" rims.
