1st Service price differences, yikes!!! - forest172 - 30-10-2012 01:17pm

Just rang around 4 local dealers to me asking what the 1st service will cost on my 2.2 auto evoque

prices as follows

Dealer 1 HUNTERS Derby :- £460.00Laughing
Dealer 2 GORDON LAMB Chesterfield :- £360.00Wink (to be fair they did come down to £325.00 after haggling)
Dealer 3 GUY SAMON Sheffield :- £280.00Very Happy
Dealer 4 STRATSTONE Nott`m :- £330.00Confused but will match my best price at £280.00, and will collect this tuesdayVery Happy

Dealer 1 ask me if I`d like it booking in and I replied "not at them prices!, when you serviced my disco 4 it wasn`t anywhere near that price." Her reply was well your new car is a "range Rover and not a Land rover, sir!" what`s that all about!?!

I will put dealers names by prices if anybodies interested to save time and effort of ringing about and if ok with mods

Put them up and embarrass them, because that is the only way they can see how they stack up against the nearby competition

See I told you that once you get a Range Rover badge on the car you are perceived as being a millionaire with a bottomless bank account - and it isn't just LR dealers, if you are getting any tradesmen coming to your house to quote for work make sure you have the Range Rover out of sight, they all add a Range Rover owner supplement.

The sad thing is that the service between the dealers should be the same regards to the first service as it is oil and filter.

The parts should the same and the oil should be close too, I have never understood this, I know years ago of a guy who used to transport his ferrari from London to bham to save thousands on service costs, and even with the transport costs it was still cheaper.

The main difference is the labour rate they believe they should charge for the work, it would be interesting to see how much the freelander service is then if we have a Range Rover and that is a land rover with the same engine and running gear.

RRP on the Freelander 2 is the same as the Evoque, same labour rate aswell.

One thing that I have found is that London has cheaper labour rates than up here in Scotland - we have far less choice of dealers up here and in the Central Belt I have the choice of 6 dealerships within 2 hours drive and 2 way up north.

Only one dealer in Fife, my other options are Stirling, Edinburgh or Perth.
