Peeled Black Gloss Trim - tintin_57 - 18-08-2012 03:44pm

Hi

Noticed a new one on mine today, wondered if anyone has seen the same?

I have a 5 door, on one of the black gloss trims along the top of the back door where it meets the pillar upwards, the gloss seems to have chipped away in the groove where they meet. Seems that the only way they could fix this is by replacing the top trim piece.

Anyone else seen this? I presume the dealer would do this under warranty etc?

Cheers

Here we go, hope this helps (added as attachment). All the peeling is on the top trim piece.

Seems it should be fairly easy to unscrew this piece and replace. Wondering why it's happened though. Thank heavens for warranties.[attachment=2580]

Do you take the car through a rotating brush type car wash by any chance?

No, i've only ever jet/handwashed it myself. Always use microfibre cloths etc
Hoping though that the dealer will fix this. Shouldn't really be happening

Ummmmm could be the jet wash if the pressure is high

Always keep my distance with it to be honest. Noticed this just this afternoon. It is also very slightly doing the same thing in the same place on the other side. It should be able to take a couple of washes without falling apart I would have thought.

Will call in at the dealers this week and see what they have to say
Took another quick look. Appears it could be that where the two trims meet they are not a great fit and they may have been rubbing against each other as the door is shut. I can push the upright trim in a little so can see how it could come about.

So not sure what will happen. If they touch it up it will still be a bad fit going forward

That is the first time I have seen an iPad2 being used as a camera!

Should be a warranty item then. LR customer service in Gaydon are spot on if your local dealer doesn't help but can't see any reason why they wouldn't.
