It was only last week, so I guess it's still valid. Will test a non visible area tomorrow or Tuesday (not sure where that non visible area will be in car, probably engine compartment?), and I'll post after that. If it's a match I'll also get some Stornoway grey for FL (you can buy the paint separately). I mite try some Jag Lunar Grey from Halfords being the same as OG. Hoping it's going to be lighter than the LR paint stick I have. My mistake RE: To touch her up or not to touch her up! - JackMac - 26-03-2012 03:24am Chips happen. I've had good results using paint touch-up kits from car manufacturers and a fine tipped artist brush in the past. On a related note, I just had a 3M clear bra applied to our new RRE bumper and mirror caps. Inevitably stones will find there way to the unprotected bonnet RE: To touch her up or not to touch her up! - IKM - 26-03-2012 03:13pm (25-03-2012 09:34pm)doug Wrote: Have you opened the paint tin yet, what's the colour match like please?Touched up chip today with the Chipex OG. The chip is deeper than I thought, so will have to layer it again later this week. Colour appears slghtly more silvery than I would like, but better than LR touch up. Sun's shining too bright here for photos (22 degrees C in Aberdeenshire in March!). Will try when it's in the shade. RE: To touch her up or not to touch her up! - WB - 26-03-2012 03:20pm with all the touch up paints you REALLY need to mix them for a good few minutes otherwise they will appear light/dark. The Chipex kit is very expensive and if it didn't match perfectly like their claim then I'd ask for a replacement or refund. I've bought Paint from Paints4u in the past and they're very competitively priced and the colour match was spot on. It was a silver car too which is one of the most difficult to match. RE: To touch her up or not to touch her up! - doug - 26-03-2012 03:32pm Just looked at paints 4U, there kit is only £14.99 or £ 8.99 for the paint only. That's more like it. Thank you WB. |
